While we’re preparing our next feature release for DEVONthink To Go, a maintainance update to version 2.4.4 has just passed Apple’s review. It enables editing existing PDF annotations without switching to edit mode and fixes issues related to rotating the device, swiping databases, the grid view, and the PDF annotation toolbar. (more)
Our synchronization technology for DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go supports direct connections via the local network, Dropbox, and WebDAV.
WebDAV is a standard protocol for connecting to file services over the internet. You can mount WebDAV servers in the Finder just like a remote hard drive, upload and download files, or move things around. It’s a solid standard and DEVONthink can use it for managing its sync stores, folders containing all the files needed for synchronizing one or more databases between multiple devices. (more)
We’ve just released an update for DEVONthink To Go to version 2.4.3. This time it’s all about synchronization. So we added the ability to synchronize when you switch to another app. This makes sure that the changes you’ve made are uploaded to your sync store. If you lock the device, iOS immediately removes access to all encrypted data on disk to protect it. In this case DEVONthink To Go stops the synchronization quietly and retries when you come back to it later. (more)
Finding references and court opinions takes up a good part of an attorney’s or law student’s workday. Therefore DEVONagent Pro is the ideal tool for them. It helps them with in-depth research in online databases and keeps them updated when new information turns up. DEVONagent 3.10 adds Google Scholar to the already existing support for Lexis, FindLaw, and EUR-Lex for finding case law and opinions. (more)

If you find yourself often opening the same windows, tabs, and documents often, it can be a bit cumbersome. Similar to a concept found in applications like Adobe Illustrator, there is an option in DEVONthink’s Go menu: Workspaces. From the Documentation > Menus section of the Help: … (more)
Part of setting up a DEVONthink sync to Dropbox is making sure you don’t re-download the sync data unnecessarily. If you don’t exclude the DEVONthink Packet Sync folder in the Dropbox application on your Mac, it will download what our sync has just uploaded. This wastes bandwidth and space on your machine. It may also spam your machine with messages about files being changed. (more)
You can only use one Dropbox account in DEVONthink or DEVONthink To Go. This means you need to pick an account to use for syncing. But perhaps you started with one account and have now decided to use another one. Or maybe you want to share sync data with someone else, using a common Dropbox account. And every single time you try and set up a sync location, DEVONthink just won’t forget the first account you used! Here’s how to switch the accounts… … (more)
With the maintenance update to version 2.9.17 we’ve made the web interface of DEVONthink Pro Office compatible to current web browsers. Access your databases again from any Mac or Windows PC running Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge! Importing email messages via drag-and-drop skips already imported messages, and not yet downloaded messages don’t stop an email import anymore. (more)
While syncing data may no longer be a problem for me, finding it can be. DEVONthink To Go (DTTG) has really solved this problem for me and it’s one of my most used apps on my iOS devices. The fast search, tagging, capture, and iCloud integration really make it indispensable to me. (more)
